🕊️ In Loving Memory of Richard Flores 🕊️ With shattered hearts, but with faith in God’s promise of eternal life, we announce the passing of my beloved husband, Richard Flores —the first and only love of my life. Richard and I were blessed with 42 years of marriage. Those years were far from perfect, but they were ours. Through every joy, every hardship, every disagreement, and every trial, we continued to choose one another. We grew together, raised our family together, and held tightly to the life and love God had given us. Richard was not simply part of my world—my entire world was him. Richard fought an aggressive cancer with tremendous courage and strength. Although our hearts were not ready to let him go, we humbly place him in God’s hands. We find comfort in believing that his suffering has ended, that the Lord welcomed him home, and that he is now resting in a place where there is no more pain, fear, or sorrow—only everlasting peace. Richard lived a life of service, compassion, and love. He began his law enforcement career with the La Joya Independent School District Police Department. He later proudly served as a Constable Deputy for nine years. Richard also devoted 13 years of service as Fire Chief for the La Joya Fire Department, faithfully protecting and serving the community he loved. Richard’s passion was the outdoors. He loved fishing and hunting, and he found peace surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation. The outdoors was where his heart felt free and where he created many treasured memories with those he loved. Richard was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, Ninfa and Ricardo Flores, and his beloved mother, Guadalupe S. Cantu. Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving father, Eduardo Cantu, and his siblings: Maria S. Cantu, Enedina Cervantes, Victoria Cantu, Maria Angelica Rodriguez, Genaro Cantu, and Gerardo Cantu. Richard is also survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Diana Flores, who was the love of his life and his greatest companion. He leaves behind his daughter, Kristina Ramirez (Juan Ramirez), and his beloved grandchildren Ryan Ramirez, Elijah Ramirez, and Aiden Ramirez. He is also survived by his son, Richard Flores (Michelle Flores), and his grandson, Easton Flores.His son, Rolando Flores (April Flores), and his beloved granddaughters, Emily Flores and Evana Flores, will forever carry his love and memory in their hearts. Richard touched countless lives through his kindness, generosity, laughter, and willingness to help others. Those who knew him will remember his strength, the warmth of his heart, and the deep love he had for his family, friends, and community. Richard, you were my husband, my strength, my home, my greatest love, and my entire world. A part of my heart went with you, but I know that love does not end with death. Your love will remain with me through every day God grants me, until He brings us together again in His heavenly kingdom. Please continue to keep Richard and our family in your prayers as we walk through this valley of sorrow, trusting that God will carry us when we no longer have the strength to stand.
