Kareema Mom4/10/56-02/07/2026. 💔 Mom, you have always been the wind beneath my wings. My confidant, a solid foundation of biblical truth for me to always turn to. My number one supporter in this life. In the 16 years of battling cancer, not once did your faith ever waiver, you knew we serve an almighty God, a loving father. Every time we’d go to MD Anderson cancer center you would be praying for others who were also battling cancer. You would turn the lobby into a prayer group every single time. You have been such a positive force in so many lives especially my own. Everything of who I am today is attributed to you. From building homes in Mexico, getting grant money to help build homes in south Texas for families that needed help, to bringing dual enrollment courses to south Texas so kids could graduate with an associate degree before even graduating high school and having the largest amount of graduates in the nation. From helping found South Texas College, to creating the jewlettes dance team and later having your own daughter be one. To creating grants in helping parents in the community with their kids. From getting your first PHd at 25 at UT Austin coming from a small town where no one was leaving for higher education with perfect SAT scores. Then when you got diagnosed with cancer the first time you got your second PHd in Biblical counseling at Our Lady of the Lake University. To creating your own pod cast on YouTube called the Dr. Ez show. After having one air locally called “Platicas con la comunidad.” “Conversations with the community.” To creating a consulting company and helping school districts bring federal grant funding and one of your latest accomplishments was running for County Judge in Hidalgo County and becoming the Christian conservative candidate and acquiring 44k votes. Getting the endorsement of the Texas governor Greg Abbott. Mom you were my real life heroine. Your greatest accomplishment was how much you loved Jesus and how you instilled the same love for him in me and everyone you met. You stood on unshakable faith knowing Who went before you. Everyone always wondered how you always had so much favor. How you were always able to bounce back from adversity and you would 100 percent attribute everything to God, your parents and your love for me. Mom, I never pictured my life without you. Not once. I don’t know how I’m going to do this without you. I can hear you say “press forward, never remain idle and know where your strength comes from. If God is for you who and what can be against you.” I know you are no longer burdened by the troubles of this life, where there is no more pain and suffering and are up there with grandma and grandpa praising our King. I know you received a “Well done, you upright (honorable, admirable) and faithful servant! You have been faithful and trustworthy over a little; I will put you in charge of much. Enter into and share the joy (the delight, the blessedness) which your Lord enjoys.” Thank you for all the sacrifices you made for me, especially as a single mom. You made it look so easy. Mom, you always use to say “did I give you life or did you give me life.” It was most definitely you mom. It was always you. You were always so humble, kindhearted, always glamorous, quick to forgive, so joyful, extremely intelligent and made my life so much fun! Thank you for the legacy, leadership, guidance and unconditional love you gave me. You have always made me feel like I could accomplish anything and nothing was ever too big as long as I had the right attitude, dressed for the position and lived with divine purpose. God really blessed me with you and I will hold you in my heart forever. I love you so much Mom. Always and forever.
