Yolanda “Lando” Ramirez, 79, of Mission passed away peacefully at her home on May 18, 2023, in Mission, Texas. Funeral services will be held at Virgil Wilson Mortuary, 2200 N. Conway, Mission, TX 78572. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2023 and it ends at 9:00pm, and the Rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 621 W. Main Ave, Alton, Texas 78573 on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 11:45 a.m. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3601 N. Taylor Rd, Mission, Texas 78573. Arrangements are by Virgil Wilson Mortuary (956) 585-2721. Yolanda “Lando” Ramirez was born on December 6, 1943, in San Jose del Matorral, SLP to Aurelia Alvarez and Natividad Jasso. She was married to Roberto Ramirez for 60 years. Lando’s labor of love was raising her 9 children. She was an excellent judge of character and did not suffer fools lightly. The home she created was joyous and never empty or quiet. She treasured the visits from her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. As seen in the homes of her children, her crocheting skills were prolific and legendary. And as busy as she was, there was always room in her heart for her beloved chihuahuas, birds, and assortment of rescue animals. Her home was the gathering point for all family celebrations and holidays. She was known throughout her community for the annual Levantada del Niño Dios, endless tamaladas, and a spicy menudo guaranteed to cure whatever ailed you. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She would travel yearly to her native Matorral to celebrate la Fiesta de San Jose del Matorral. She lived an honest life surrounded by a loving family. Lando lived each day for the joy her grandchildren brought into her life. In turn, she gave joy to all who knew her. Yolanda is preceded in death by her husband, Roberto Ramirez, her son Armando Ramirez, her granddaughter Ariana Ramirez, parents Aurelia Alvarez and Natividad Jasso. Lando is survived by her children, Roberto (Thelma) Ramirez, Anna (Octaviano) Beltrán, Eduardo (Veronica) Ramirez, Jerardo (Miriam) Ramirez, Araceli (Manuel) Garcia, Veronica (George) Quiroz, Angelica Ramirez, Sonia Garza, Alma (Arnulfo) Ramirez-Ruiz, sisters María Vera and Graciela Alvarado and aunt Catalina “Cata” Azua. Grandma Lando is survived and very much loved by her 31 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
