Maria Hortencia Rodriguez

Maria Hortencia Rodriguez, born on September 9, 1952 in Mission, Texas to Jose Guadalupe and Hortencia Vela, passed away on November 30, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in McKinney, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, and beloved husband, Reymundo Rodriguez, Jr. She is remembered by her children: Melisa Johnson (Steven) of McKinney, Texas, Mireya Mejia (Danny) of Baytown, Texas, and Ray Rodriguez (Priscilla) of Austin, Texas; and grandchildren: Nicholas Brian Johnson, Noah Steven Johnson, Jacob Daniel Mejia, Reymundo Sharkey Rodriguez and Mireya Olivia Rodriguez. She is also survived by siblings: Jose Antonio Vela (Toni), Maria Guadalupe Vela, and Jose Luis Vela (Mary). A drive by visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 11:00am - 11:45am in the Event Center at Virgil Wilson Mortuary in Mission (Venue is located behind the main funeral home). Burial will follow at 2:00pm at RGV State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Due to the current climate surrounding COVID-19, visitors are asked to please use a facemask/covering and practice safe social distancing guidelines. Please hand sanitize upon entering and exiting the funeral home. Please avoid hugging or being within 6 feet of one another. A note from the family: Due to the current surge of Covid-19 infections, it is not advisable to gather in groups. The family will livestream this event so that you may attend virtually to help stop the spread of the virus. There is a limit to in person attendance, so the family will send individual invitations, and will need an RSVP before the event to ensure that we are adhering to all CDC guidelines. Our sweet mother was taken by this virus, she followed every guideline to protect herself and others. She took this virus very seriously. She would not want anyone else to be put at risk. If you do not feel well or have any symptoms, please stay home. If you are not practicing social distancing, or not wearing face coverings, please join us via livestream in lieu of the in person event. We love you all very much, and so did our Mother. It is important that we honor her life, by stopping the spread of this horrible virus. May our Mother rest in eternal peace, reunited with our Daddy and our precious Lord.
