Michigan- Elma June Mays, 97, born on June 02, 1924 in Hesperia, Michigan to Otto Leroy Neely and Margaret Vanwingerden left to be with the Lord on October 19, 2021 at Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, Texas. Elma June taught home economics for 30 years in several different schools from Michigan to Indiana. She was an alumni from Central Michigan University, over the years she enjoyed playing cards, reading, camping with family, travel and most of all teaching. Ms. Mays was preparing for her return to Texas this year as she was working on her lesson plan for Dream Valley Ranch bible study which was a passion of hers for many years. She and her husband began coming to the Rio Grande Valley in the early 80's, traveling between Michigan and Texas. Ms. Elma is preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Mays, two adoring grandson's Mike Norton, and Bob Norton, in addition to her son in law David Thurston. Her memory will forever live in the hearts of her beloved children: John & Sherry Mays, Iva & Edward Norton, Margaret Thurston, grandchildren: Alene(Jeff Hopkins), Aaron Thurston, Anna Badger, Alan Thurston, Kadi Demogola, Tom(Jami) Norton, and Brook Mays, in addition to 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grand-children. She will also be greatly missed by Goeff and Amy Hall and her extended family. Ms. Mays will have a memorial service at Dream Valley Ranch on Saturday, October 23, 2021 which will be followed by a celebration of life ceremony at Weidman Methodist Church Weidman Michigan on June, 2022.
