La Joya-Alejandro S. Treviño, 86, was called to heaven on Saturday, January 16, 2021. He was a noble, simple and humble, God loving man. His life was well lived and he was well loved! He was on born March 20, 1934 in La Joya, Texas where he was a lifelong resident. His grandparents, Policarpo and Simona Zamora Treviño were pioneer settlers in Tabasco, Texas present day La Joya. He learned to drive rigs at the age of 14. During his 64 years as an owner operator truck driver, he hauled sand, gravel and caliche for Crow Gravel, Key Trucking and Sunbelt on Hwy 83 from Brownsville to Laredo, up north on Hwy 77 to Odem and north on Hwy 281 to Mathis. Next time you ride on these roads smile and say a prayer for our Dad. He turned off his rig for the last time at the tender age of 78. His hobbies were tending to his cattle and goats. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and watching old western movies. Preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Maria del Jesus Silva Treviño and his siblings: Daniel Treviño, Ignacio Treviño, Zenaida Quintanilla, Irene Maldonado and an infant sister, La Niña. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Juanita Treviño, his four children: Maria del Jesus (Eduardo) De Leon, Santos (Norma) Treviño, Rosalinda (Richard) Treviño and Lydia (Roberto) Duberney, ten grandchildren: Eduardo De Leon Jr, Gilberto A. De Leon, Richard R. Treviño Jr, Angela De Leon, Cassandra Treviño-De La Rosa, Corina Treviño, Laura Treviño, Victoria Duberney, Eryka Duberney and Kathlyn Duberney; four great-grandchildren: Angela Dulce Rodriguez, Kylee Garcia, Achilles Gabriel Hernandez and Jocelynn Garcia; his sister: Claudina (Joe) Moreno of Azusa, California and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a 6:00 pm rosary recited at the Lord and I Funeral Home in Peñitas, Texas. Funeral Mass will be officiated at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in La Joya, Texas. Interment will follow at La Joya City Cemetery in La Joya, Texas. Due to the current climate surrounding COVID-19, we are limiting the amount of visitors to our facility and requiring all guests to please wear a mask and observe social distancing.
