Rosalio Rios

Rosalio Rios was peacefully called home to be with the Lord, Monday, May 25, 2015. He was born and passed away in Mission, Texas. He was the oldest of seven children, and at 16 years of age, started working to support his mother and siblings. Though he never went to school, he taught himself to read, write, and the basic mechanics of small machines and engines. While teaching himself these things, he was a migrant worker in Edinburg, Texas where he met the love of his life, Maria Luz Espinoza. They were married in 1944 and honored their marriage vows until the time of his death. He left migrant work and started working in construction, building roads throughout the Chicagoland area. Chances are, if you've driven into or out of the city of Chicago, no matter what road you've traveled, he and his road crew built it. He had an unmatched work ethic and almost never missed a day in his life. He was known for his generosity and was always available to help any family member or friend in need. Weddings, funerals, emergency car repair, whatever it was, if someone was in need, he was there to help. He and Maria moved to Mission, Texas when he retired. He could be seen everyday, until recently, watering or tending to his lawn, building things, painting or tinkering in his garage. His greatest joys were watching all of the children in his family grow up and start families of their own, watching wrestling with his sons and great-grandsons on Saturday mornings, and watching his beloved Chicago White Sox play. He is predeceased by his parents, Aneseto and Geronima Rios, one son, Reynaldo Rios, his brothers, Toribio and Thomas Rios, his sisters, Manuela Barrones, Angelita Rios, and Alpedia Figueroa, two nephews, Johnny and Billy Joe Rios, one great-grandson, Nicholas Lleras, and one great-ganddaughter, Angel Marie Rios. He is survived by his adoring wife of 71 years, Maria Luz, Daughter, Juanita Loomer (Greg) of Smithville, NJ, Son Guillermo (Sal) Rios (Karen) of Hawthorne Woods, IL, Son Rosendo (Roy) Rios of Mission, TX, Son Manuel (Manny) Rios (Janet) Carpentersville, IL, Daughter Ana Escamilla (Jesse) Palominas, AZ, Daughter Christina Treviño, Mission, TX, 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, one remaining brother Lupe (Lupe) Rios, Houston, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. All of his family will miss him terribly and will continue to love their Matriarch. They will continue his legacy of hard work, learning and above all, love. Rosalio wasn't a man of many words-he set great examples.
