Roger Stephen Duffield

Roger Stephen Duffield, beloved husband of Patsy Osier Duffield, passed away on November 16, 2023, at the age of 75 in Mission, TX. He was born on December 24, 1947, in Bloomfield, IW. Roger had a lot of friends who loved him dearly, and he had been a part of the Valley community for over 24 years. He had a reserved nature and enjoyed his alone time. However, he was also a very giving man, always willing to help others. Roger had a passion for dancing and socializing with his friends and family. Some of the most significant moments in Roger's life include his service in the Navy from February 11, 1965, to December 13, 1968, where he received an Honorary Discharge. He later retired from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad after 20 years of dedicated service. Roger was proud to have served his country in various ways and loved his country deeply. Roger had several favorite hobbies and interests. He loved restoring older model vehicles and had a passion for racing cars in his younger days. Hunting was another activity he enjoyed. He also found joy in riding his Harley Davidson bike and attending bike rallies. Roger was an avid fan of the NASCAR Cup Series and never missed a Sunday race. Roger had a profound impact on the lives of those who knew him. He was an easy man to love and befriend, and he had a special place in his heart for his cherished friends and family. He enjoyed starting his mornings with a cup of coffee and engaging in great conversations with his friends in the park. It was rare to see him without his favorite Rock Star drink in hand and occasionally a cigar with his buddies. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Gene Duffield and Geraldine Elmira Rogers, as well as his stepson, Timothy William Meredith, from Arkansas. A Celebration of Life will be held for Roger on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Valley View Estates located at 2100 Vernon Street Mission, Texas 78572. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Osier Duffield, his stepdaughter Melissa Meredith of Arkansas, his son Shane Duffield of Washington State, his grandchildren Spencer and Sheridan Duffield of Iowa, his great-granddaughters Aria Rose and Nova Mae Duffield of Iowa, his half-sisters Deb (Riley) Jolley, Linda, and Tina Courtney, and his half-brothers Mike Duffield, Joe Duffield, and John Duffield. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and several stepchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Roger's memory to Selah Hospice Care.
