Richard Lee Garza

It is with great sadness that the family of Richard “Dickey” Lee Garza announce his passing on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at the age of 65 in Corpus Christi, Tx. Richard will be lovingly remembered by Maggie Hernandez Garza. They had three children, Michelle Lee Garza†, Richard “Richie” Lee Garza II (Mayela) and Eric Edward Garza. Richard was born on April 11, 1957, to Eddie and Grace Garza of Mission. He graduated from Mission High School in 1975 and attended TSTI in Harlingen, Tx where he completed and received his certification in TV and Electric Specialist. He lived in Mission until he retired in 2016 when he moved to Corpus Christi, TX. Richard loved spending his free time hunting and fishing with his sons Richie & Eric, his brother Bobby and any friend invite that came his way. He was ready for any road trip especially to Las Vegas. Richard was a great friend and role model to many of his children’s friends. Richard was an avid “Hard Rock” music lover, whoes favorites included, Free Bird by Leonard Skynard, Maria Maria by Santana, and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by The Beatles just to name a few. In the last few years Dickey lived one day at a time and certainly to its fullest. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Eddie & Grace Garza of Mission, his daughter Michelle Lee Garza, his brother Robert “Bobby” Garza, and his nephew Kevin T. Weber. He is one (#6) of eight children and is survived by six sisters: Gloria G. Gutierrez and Linda G. Alaniz from San Antonio, Cynthia (Tom) Weber from Corpus Christi, Iris (Moises) Iglesias from Mission, Mary (Ray) Flores from Mission and Christine Garza from Corpus Christi. He is also loved by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews from the Garza and Hernandez Families. Viewing and Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Virgil Wilson Funeral Home 2200 N. Conway Ave, Mission, Tx 78572. Family Viewing from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Public Viewing from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a recitation of The Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 20, 2023, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church 1119 N Francisco Ave, Mission, TX 78572 at 10:00 a.m. followed by Interment at Lord & I Cemetery in Palmview, Tx.
