Hermila Alaniz Cantu Garcia

Hermila A. Garcia, – Passed on June 15, 2023, while sleeping peacefully at her home in McAllen, Texas, she was 86 years old. Born August 31, 1936, in Monterrey NL Mexico, to Domingo Alanis Campos and Maria del Pilar Cantu. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfredo Garcia after 68 years of marriage. Hermila A. Garcia lived a wonderfully filled life as a mother, mentor, and dedicated Christian of El Buen Pastor Lutheran Church for 65 years. Her journey in life was to always walk by faith and not by sight and to continue to share her warmth of heart through her Bible teachings and prayers. She also expressed much-devoted love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in teaching her love of God through her songs, “Unos Ojitos” and “Cristo Me Ama”. Her life goal was to ease pain through kindness, in line with her favorite Bible verse John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” The love for her husband and the love of her family was to demonstrate good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. Hermila was the beloved mother of Arturo, Maria Yolanda, Ricardo, Hector, Irma, Luis, Irene, David, Norma Linda, Alfredo Jr, Alfonso, and 37 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Her surviving brother is Domingo Alanis Cantu of Cadereyta NL, Mexico. A big, thank you to Dr. Luis Arango, AmeriCare Home Heath, and Amalia Brewster for their loving care. Please join us in celebrating her life and the forever remembrance prayer and quote that she shared with many to inspire the blessings of our fruit and to seize the moments of happiness. “Cristo Nuestro Pan de Vida, Ven Bendice Esta Comida,” and, “No Guerra, Paz.” Wednesday, June 21, 2023, visitation from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. service at Virgil Wilson Mortuary Funeral Home, 2200 N Conway Ave, Mission, TX. Thursday, June 22, 2023, the funeral service will be at 10 a.m. at EI Buen Pastor Lutheran Church, 1929 W Pecan McAllen. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens, 3605 N Taylor Rd, Mission, TX. Services are under the direction of Virgil Wilson Mortuary Funeral Home in Mission.
