Guadalupe E. Garza

Guadalupe E. Garza, 87, passed away on July 4, 2015. She was born at La Rosita Ranch in Duval County, Texas on October 16, 1927 to Juan and Jesusa Espinoza. She was brought up in Freer, Texas and moved to Sullivan City when she married. Together with her husband they created a loving and nurturing home for their family. She instilled in her children a great faith in God and a strong desire to succeed. Lupita enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing, tending to her plants, and occasional trips to Las Vegas. But above all, what she enjoyed most was being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Her home was a place where everyone was treated like family and she encouraged us all to be “hermanable”. The legacy that she leaves is to love each other unconditionally. She is preceded in death by her husband Eugenio Garza, son Pedro Garza, daughter Juanita Garza, son Ramon Garza, daughter Alicia Garza, grandson David Andrew “Andy” Guajardo, five brothers, and five sisters. She is survived by her children Eugenio Garza, Jr.(Rosario), Elvia Munoz(+Ramiro), Paula G. Guajardo(Pedro), Elma Garza, Roberto Garza, and Irma Garza; fourteen grandchildren: Debra Lee Alvarez, Ramon Garza, Jr., Eugenio Garza, Ramiro Munoz III, Veronica A. Flores, Cindy Garza, Amanda E. Munoz, Leslie A. Garza, Laura Y. Rosales, Pedro Guajardo III, Eugina R. Guajardo, Eduardo R. Garza, Corina E. Garza, Mikayla A. Martinez, and 22 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Eva Ponce and Olivia Holt. Lupita was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family and will be missed by all who knew her. Pallbearers will be Eugenio Garza III, Ramiro Munoz III, Pedro Guajardo III, Eduardo Garza, Jorge De la Rosa, and Matthew Casas. Visitation will be Monday, July 6, 2015 from 1 pm to 9 pm at L & I Funeral Home in Penitas, Texas. A rosary will be held at 7 pm. Funeral service will be Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, Texas.
