Arcadia Ortiz

East Haven, CT – Arcadia Ortiz, 84, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014, surrounded by her family, she was born on January 12, 1930 in Doctor Arroyo, Mexico. Daughter of the late Isidro and Hermelinda Rodriguez, Widowed the late Robert Ovidio Ortiz and preceded by her brother Martin Rodriguez. Arcadia will be remembered as a talented cook, love making colchas with her closed friend Veya Garza and also especially her gardening. She had a beautiful garden where she spent long hours outside her home watering her plants and grass. Arcadia was a long time resident of Penitas, where her children were born with the community of the Garzas, Zamoras, Loyas, Cardenas. She then moved to La Joya where she was then employed by Parker Seal Hannifin for 17 years alongside her friends Cris, Letty, Norma, whom she was very close to and they always stayed close by her. Upon her retirement she went to Connecticut to welcome her grandson, whom for 11 years she traveled and stayed with for long periods of time. Arcadia loved her family in Sundays the kitchen always was busy welcoming all her grandchildren, family and friends. She volunteered for Our Lady Queen of Angles made her famous pan de polvo cookies, and or was out praying a rosary, or visiting someone ill. She will be remembered for her amazing capacity to love and her generosity to her family and everyone she encountered. Arcadia is survived by her son Robert (Sofie), Rey (Diana), daughter Rosario (Bill), grandchildren Robert Ed (Shannon), Monica, Veronica, Scilia (Steve), Michael Ray (Omelia), Jaqueline (Juan) and Billy. Three great grandchildren Anthony Michael, Daniel, Yaleina, her beloved god daughter Maribel De La Rosa, her sister, Mary, Frances, Toribia, Elida, Isidra, Maria Luisa, Macaria, and her extended family in Connecticut, Levatinos, Nerreaus, Puccinos, Da Cunto and all her dear friends in Connecticut, she touched many hearts with her love and friendship. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday September 04, 2014, at Lord & I Memorial Chapel in Penitas, Texas. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 05, 2014 at Our Lady Queen of Angles Catholic Church in La Joya, Texas. Donations will be accepted to Our Lady Queen of Angles. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lord & I Funeral Home of Penitas, Texas.
